Various artist were selected by each state's congressman and Steven De Christopher was selected to represent the state of California. Steven designed an ornament with a California theme which included images of palm trees, coast line and sunshine for his ornament that was displayed on the tree.

This tree was designed by Steven De Christopher as a tribute to Carol Channing's illustrious career in the arts spanning five decades. The white tree is decorated in black and gold with a top hat and canes plus various musical ornaments that represent her latest passion for the importance of the arts in our schools. As part of this effort she has established the Dr. Carol Channing and Harry Kullijian Foundation for the Arts that funds art education in schools. The Channing tree was auctioned off with the proceeds going to the local charity Act for MS.
